BEHIND THE BLOG – I am some random nineteen-year-old person, aspiring journalist and writer. I am currently on a gap year, on a quest to find my first job ever and do some volunteering. I am of French and Italian nationalities, therefore it can happen that, from time to time, my linguistic abilities in English writing fail. Besides writing, I’m fond of art, fashion, reading and photography and I’m curious about pretty much everything!

BEHIND THE BLOG’S NAME  Although I have never delivered any newspapers to anyone’s home, I am fond of newspapers and magazines (hence why I’d love to make a breakthrough in print journalism). It thus refers to my passion for words and writing. On the other hand, this blog was initially supposed to cover fashion topics, hence ‘high-heeled’. Nevertheless, the wording describes me pretty well as someone who loves both writing and wearing high heels.

THE BLOG – This blog is somewhere I try to keep every thought, every post and every response spick and span. This is the unique place where I own all the power and everything is under control. It is a way for me to stay safe and mostly to stay sane. Through my writing, on this unfolding stamping ground, I am endeavouring to make people around me discover the person I solely am by being honest and true to myself.

‘Studies have shown that, indeed, introverts are more likely than extroverts express intimate facts about themselves online than their family and friends would be surprised to read, to say that they can express the “real me” online, and to spend more time in certain kinds of online discussions. They welcome the chance to communicate digitally. The same person who would never raise his hand in a lecture hall of two hundred people might blog to two thousand, or two million, without thinking twice. The same person who finds it difficult to introduce himself to strangers might establish a presence online and then extend these relationships into the real world.’
— Susan Cain, The Power of Introverts

In my writing, you will find some of my innermost thoughts and feelings, pieces of my life I never thought I could ever share with anyone. And yet, through it, the grueling truths were being spoken. Please respect that at times I need that barrier of privacy to be shattered and that in writing I will always trust.

This blog will be shaped by random thoughts, ongoing society debates and intimate reflections. It is an attempt to unravel my own perceptions of the world and share them with anybody that is willing to take this ride with me.

“Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our true potential”

Winston Churchill
